Avery Jane

Avery Jane is a Montreal-based singer-songwriter originally from Victoria BC. Her music is inspired by many different musical genres such as jazz, pop, folk, neo-soul, modern and classic Rhythm and Blues, which have amalgamated to create her unique personal sound and style. After years of performing in big bands, musical theatre, folk duos and indie-jazz bands, she relocated her career to Montreal and continued to focus on music and songwriting. In the fall of 2019, Avery began performing the pub circuit in Montreal as a solo act while honing her skills and writing original music. During the pandemic, her work changed drastically from performance-focused to creation of original music.

She released her first single, "April" in 2020,  her debut EP  Honey Lemon Ginger in 2022 and EP “Hey You” in 2023. Avery's lyrics are genuine and clever, often focusing on how it feels to love and be loved in unique ways. With songs about forgetting to buy toothpaste at the grocery store, giving her mother a room to visit her in the big city, and unconditional love, Avery’s insightful, relatable and melodic lyrics touch on many aspects of the human experience.

With “Bakery,” Avery Jane delivers a raw yet polished sound that feels both intimate and universal. This track invites listeners to reflect on lost connections, personal growth, and the bittersweet longing for rekindled relationships, striking a chord with anyone who's ever wished for a second chance.

"This song is inspired by an old friendship I had growing up. It sort of reached a point that I got so frustrated by how much love I had for this person and wasn't getting any back, but I know that time, distance and growing can do that to a relationship. But as an artist, writing is definitely a form of therapy for me so I sat down and just let it all out. It felt so good to record this song, but now I'm really looking forward to letting it go by releasing it into the world. Hopefully it can be cathartic for anyone else missing their high school friends!" Avery Jane shares.

The blend of modern pop and R&B influences, coupled with sharp, soulful vocals, makes it especially appealing to fans of artists like SZA, Charlotte Cardin, and Snoh Aalegra. Produced by Koyo Sur La Prod, the song's crisp drum patterns, melodic guitar lines, and ethereal arrangements create a sonic landscape perfect for contemplation. Whether listeners want to reminisce, process emotions, or find comfort in shared experiences, “Bakery” offers an emotionally immersive journey. This is a track that captures fleeting moments — late-night thoughts, unanswered messages, and the complicated beauty of nostalgia — “Bakery” proves Avery Jane's talent for translating personal experiences into melodies that resonate with listeners far and wide.

In 2022, Avery Jane started working with Koyo Sur La Prod, a producer from Montreal. After a three day retreat jump-started their collaboration, they created their first song together ("Butter") and were immediately inspired to take on a full project. Working together at Wolfstag Studios in Rosemont, Montreal, they laid down the foundation tracks of all the songs in the project.

Avery Jane's project Hey You is a collection of songs in EP format. This EP is sung to an unnamed character, "You," and each song is meant for the listener to feel like it’s directed at them, like they are included in a conversation. It is also Avery's story of self-love, and falling in love with her partner, from just meeting and sitting on the couch side by side, to dreaming of the future together.

In no particular order her song list is "Hey You Hello", "Potential", "Room for You", “Butter", and "Who Else".
